A Rose Jungle - Loenen aan de Vecht
The visible remains of the former rosary of the estate can be found on the edge of unspoilt nature with large ponds(…)
On this site, such a neat rosary was basically alien. The brief was to keep the history alive, but to bring the garden into our time and needs. The naturalistic rose garden now being created provides a nice buffer between the structured garden around the house and the purity of the nature reserve. Native roses have been planted in combination with native shrubs and plants that seem to grow spontaneously in the young meadows. The history of the rose is told through transitions to cultivated varieties. The rosary is now slowly developing into a rose jungle. Species such as Tetrapanax and Gunnera will add to the jungle feel.
